Messaging, announcements and absence alerts

Keep communication tied to the people it concerns.

Messages keep announcements, reminders and absence alerts tied to the people they concern.

Sending a message

Open Messaging under Community and compose a subject and body. Choose the audience: a whole class, a single student or a named recipient. Every message is recorded institution-wide, so any staff member can see what a family has been told.

Announcements on the calendar

Create a calendar event with its title, dates, type and audience, and it flows to the calendar families see in the portal. Use events for the announcements that are really dates, such as exam weeks, trips and parent meetings.

Absence notifications

When the nightly attendance calculation records an absence, guardians can be notified by email. Notifications are tied to the computed daily record, so they reflect the day's actual status.

Gmail features, once verified

Two optional Gmail features are in review with Google:

  • sending email from your institution's own Gmail address, with per-user permissions, daily limits and a send history.
  • scanning Gmail for bills, invoices and receipts that become expense drafts you review before they are recorded.

Both use restricted Google permissions that require Google's verification, which typically takes four to six weeks. Until then, connecting Gmail is paused, and the app explains the status. Masira asks for each permission separately, stores tokens encrypted, and never uses mail for ads or AI training.
