Summary of Key Terms

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern access to and use of Masira, the school management platform operated by Aharsg for madrasas, Hifz academies, Alim seminaries, Islamic schools, weekend schools and other educational institutions (the "Service"). This summary highlights the most important points, and the full Terms below control.

  • Masira is a subscription service billed monthly per institution, after a 30-day free trial that requires no payment card.
  • All payments are final. We do not offer refunds, credits or prorations of any kind (Section 9 and our Refund & Cancellation Policy).
  • You may cancel at any time. Cancellation stops future charges, and your account stays active until the end of the period already paid for.
  • Your institution owns the data it enters and can export it at any time.
  • Masira is in public beta. Some features are still being developed, and the Gmail sending and Gmail expense scanning features are awaiting Google's verification and are not yet available to institutions.
  • You are responsible for having the authority and any consents required to enter student, family and staff information.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

1.1 Agreement

By creating an account, starting a free trial, subscribing to a plan, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1.2 Authority to bind an institution

If you accept these Terms on behalf of a school, madrasa, academy, masjid, non-profit organization or other entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind that entity. In that case, "you" and "Institution" refer to that entity and its Authorized Users.

1.3 Related documents

Our Privacy Policy and our Refund & Cancellation Policy, both published on the Masira website, are incorporated into these Terms by reference. If these Terms and the Refund & Cancellation Policy conflict on a billing matter, the Refund & Cancellation Policy controls.

1.4 Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to create an Institution account. Students, parents and guardians may access portals only when an Institution grants them access.

2. Definitions

Account: the workspace created for an Institution in the Service, including its settings, users and data.

Authorized User: an administrator, teacher, staff member, parent, guardian or student whom an Institution permits to use its Account.

Institution: the school or organization that creates and controls an Account.

Institution Data: all information that an Institution or its Authorized Users enter into, upload to, or generate in the Service, including student, family, staff, academic, attendance, Hifz, health, behavior and financial records.

Subscription: a paid plan that gives an Institution access to the Service for a monthly billing period.

Beta Feature: any feature, module or integration identified as beta, preview, coming soon, in development or awaiting verification.

Third-Party Service: a product or service provided by someone other than Aharsg, such as Google or Stripe.

3. The Service

3.1 What Masira provides

Masira is a cloud-based platform that helps Institutions manage admissions, student information, families and guardians, classes and subjects, school calendars and timetables, attendance, Qur'an memorization (Hifz) records, grading and transcripts, fees and invoices, income and expenses, staff and payroll records, student, parent and teacher portals, messaging, reports and data exports.

3.2 Public beta

The Service is in public beta. Features may be added, changed, improved or removed as we develop the platform. Beta Features may contain errors, may change without notice and may not always be available. We describe planned features on our website for transparency, but plans can change, and you should base purchasing decisions on the features available when you subscribe.

3.3 Gmail features awaiting Google verification

The Service includes optional features that allow an Authorized User to connect a Google account to send email from Gmail, and to scan Gmail for bills, invoices and receipts to create expense drafts for review. These features rely on Google permissions that Google classifies as restricted, which require Google's verification and an independent security assessment before they can be offered to the public. As of the Last Updated date, that verification is in progress and typically takes four to six weeks. Until verification is complete, connecting Gmail is unavailable to Institutions and the Service displays a notice instead. We will notify Institutions when these features become available. Once available, they are optional, are described in Sections 7 through 11 of our Privacy Policy, and are also subject to Google's own terms.

3.4 Changes to the Service

We may modify the Service at any time. If we remove a core feature that your Institution actively uses, we will make reasonable efforts to give advance notice through the Service or by email.

3.5 Professional judgment

The Service is a record-keeping and management tool. It does not replace the professional judgment of your teachers, administrators, accountants or legal advisers. Your Institution remains responsible for its academic, disciplinary, safeguarding, financial and legal decisions.

4. Accounts and Access

4.1 Creating an Account

When a person signs up and creates a new Institution, that person becomes the first administrator of the Institution's Account. Administrators may invite and manage other Authorized Users.

4.2 Roles and permissions

Administrators decide which Authorized Users may access which modules, using the roles and permissions provided in the Service. Administrators can see and change all of their Institution's data. You are responsible for assigning roles carefully and for removing access promptly when a person leaves your Institution.

4.3 Credentials and security

Each Authorized User must use their own login and keep their credentials confidential. Notify us promptly at info@aharsg.com if you believe an Account has been accessed without authorization.

4.4 Portals

An Institution may enable student and parent portals and choose which sections each portal shows. The Institution is responsible for the accuracy of the login email addresses it enters and for the information it chooses to share.

4.5 Multiple institutions

A user may belong to more than one Institution. The data of each Institution is kept separate, and access to one Institution does not grant access to another.

5. Free Trial

5.1 Trial period

Each new Institution receives a 30-day free trial of the Service. No payment card is required to start a trial.

5.2 End of the trial

When the trial ends, access to the Service is locked until the Institution subscribes to a plan. Institution Data is retained, subject to Section 10.6, so that the Institution can continue where it left off after subscribing.

5.3 One trial per Institution

Free trials are intended for evaluation. We may decline or end trials that we reasonably believe are being used to avoid payment, for example by repeatedly creating new Institutions.

6. Subscriptions, Plans and Billing

6.1 Plans

Current plans and prices are published on our pricing page. On the Last Updated date they are as follows.

  • Pro: USD 99.99 per month for up to 200 students and up to 10 admin users.
  • Max: USD 200.00 per month for unlimited students and unlimited admin users.

6.2 Automatic renewal

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically at the start of each billing period until cancelled.

6.3 Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method for each billing period. Aharsg does not store full payment card numbers.

6.4 Taxes

Prices exclude taxes unless stated otherwise. You are responsible for any sales, use, value-added or similar taxes that apply to your purchase, other than taxes on our income.

6.5 Price changes

We may change our prices. A price change for an existing Subscription takes effect from the next billing period after we give you at least 30 days' notice. If you do not agree to a price change, you may cancel before it takes effect.

6.6 Plan limits

Each plan has limits, such as the number of students or admin users. If your Institution exceeds the limits of its plan, we may require an upgrade before more records can be added.

6.7 Failed payments

If a payment fails, your Subscription may become past due, and we may limit or suspend access until payment is received. Institution Data is not deleted because of a failed payment, subject to Section 10.6.

7. Upgrades and Downgrades

Upgrades take effect immediately and are charged as shown at checkout. Downgrades take effect from the next billing period. Upgrades and downgrades do not create any refund, credit or proration for the current billing period.

8. Cancellation

8.1 How to cancel

You may cancel your Subscription at any time by emailing info@aharsg.com or by sending a request through the contact page on our website. We will confirm the cancellation by email.

8.2 When cancellation takes effect

Cancellation stops the next renewal charge. Your Account remains active until the end of the billing period already paid for, after which access to paid features ends.

8.3 Exporting your data

Before your paid period ends, you can export your Institution Data using the CSV exports and full backup provided in the Service.

9. No Refunds

9.1 All payments are final

All fees paid to Aharsg for the Service are final and non-refundable. We do not provide full or partial refunds, credits or prorations for any reason, including unused time, partial billing periods, unused features, unused admin seats or student capacity, plan downgrades, account closure, or dissatisfaction with Beta Features or with features that are planned but not yet available, including the Gmail features described in Section 3.3.

9.2 Use the free trial to evaluate

Because every Institution can evaluate the Service for 30 days at no cost and without a payment card, we ask Institutions to use the trial to confirm that the Service meets their needs before subscribing.

9.3 Billing errors

If we charge you in error, for example by a duplicate charge caused by a technical fault or a renewal charge after a cancellation we confirmed, contact us within 30 days of the charge and we will correct the error. Correcting our own billing error is not a refund of a valid charge.

9.4 Rights that cannot be excluded

Nothing in these Terms limits any right you may have under applicable law that cannot be excluded or limited by contract.

9.5 Chargebacks

If you dispute a valid charge with your bank or card issuer instead of contacting us, we may suspend the Account until the dispute is resolved. Please contact us first so we can help.

10. Institution Data

10.1 Ownership

As between you and Aharsg, your Institution owns its Institution Data. We do not claim ownership of it.

10.2 Our permission to process Institution Data

You grant Aharsg a limited, non-exclusive permission to host, store, process, transmit and display Institution Data only as needed to provide, secure, support and improve the Service for you, and as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell Institution Data.

10.3 Lawful basis and consent

You are responsible for having a lawful basis, and any notices and consents required, to enter and process personal information in the Service, including information about children. Depending on your location, laws such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and local education and privacy laws may apply.

10.4 Accuracy and appropriateness

You are responsible for the accuracy, quality and legality of Institution Data, and for recording only the information you need. Take particular care with sensitive information such as health records, medical alerts, custody notes, Mahram details, identification documents and behavior records.

10.5 Isolation

Each Institution's data is isolated from every other Institution. You must not attempt to access data that belongs to another Institution.

10.6 Retention and deletion

Institution Data is retained while your Account is active. After cancellation or the end of a trial, you may request deletion of your Institution Data, and we will delete it within 90 days of a verified request, except where we must keep certain records to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations.

10.7 Backups and exports

The Service provides CSV exports and a full backup. We recommend downloading backups regularly. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of any records you are required to retain.

11. Acceptable Use

You and your Authorized Users must not:

  • use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent or abusive purpose;
  • attempt to access another Institution's data, another user's account, or any part of the Service you are not authorized to access;
  • probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service, or bypass any security or access control, except through a responsible disclosure process agreed with us in writing;
  • upload malware, or content that infringes the rights of others;
  • use the Service to send spam, unsolicited marketing or harassing messages;
  • interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by placing an unreasonable load on it;
  • copy, modify, reverse engineer or create derivative works of the Service, except as permitted by law;
  • resell, sublicense or provide the Service to anyone other than your Authorized Users; or
  • make decisions about a student based solely on automated results without appropriate human review.

12. Payments Between Institutions and Families

Institutions may record tuition, fees and payments in the Service and may use their own payment providers to collect money from families. Aharsg is not a party to any agreement or transaction between an Institution and its families, sponsors or donors, and is not responsible for collecting, refunding or disputing those payments. Each Institution's own refund policy applies to the fees it charges families.

13. Third-Party Services

The Service works with Third-Party Services, including Google for sign-in and, once verified, the Gmail features, and Stripe for subscription payments. Your use of a Third-Party Service is governed by that provider's terms and privacy policy. We are not responsible for Third-Party Services, and their availability may change. If a provider changes or stops supporting an integration, we may need to change or remove the related feature.

14. Intellectual Property

Aharsg and its licensors own all rights in the Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos and the Masira name. These Terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service during your trial or Subscription, for your Institution's internal purposes and in accordance with these Terms. No other rights are granted.

15. Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions or other feedback about the Service, we may use them without restriction or obligation to you. Feedback does not include your Institution Data.

16. Confidentiality

Each party will protect the other party's non-public information that is marked or reasonably understood to be confidential, and will use it only for the purposes of these Terms. This does not apply to information that is public, already known to the recipient, independently developed, lawfully received from a third party, or required to be disclosed by law.

17. Availability and Support

We work to keep the Service available and secure, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, timely or error-free. Planned maintenance, updates during the beta, and events outside our control may cause interruptions. Support is provided by email according to your plan, as described on our pricing page.

18. Suspension and Termination

18.1 Suspension

We may suspend access to the Service if you breach these Terms, fail to pay fees when due, or if suspension is necessary to protect the Service, other Institutions or the public. Where reasonable, we will give notice and an opportunity to fix the issue first.

18.2 Termination by you

You may stop using the Service and cancel your Subscription at any time under Section 8.

18.3 Termination by us

We may terminate these Terms for a material breach that is not cured within 15 days of notice, or immediately for serious breaches such as unlawful use or attempts to access another Institution's data.

18.4 Effect of termination

On termination, your right to use the Service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination survive, including Sections 9, 10, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 24.

19. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aharsg disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. Calculated results such as daily attendance, grades, GPAs, prayer times, Hijri dates and financial totals depend on the data and settings you provide, and you should review them before relying on them. Prayer times and Hijri dates are calculated estimates and may differ from local announcements and moon sighting.

20. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Aharsg will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms. Aharsg's total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid to Aharsg for the Service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law.

21. Indemnification

You will defend and indemnify Aharsg against claims by third parties arising from your Institution Data, your use of the Service in breach of these Terms, or your violation of law or of the rights of others, including claims that personal information was entered without the required authority or consent.

22. Governing Law and Disputes

22.1 Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules.

22.2 Informal resolution first

Before starting any formal proceeding, please contact us at info@aharsg.com and allow 30 days for us to try to resolve the issue informally.

22.3 Courts

Any dispute that is not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Erie County, New York, and both parties consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

23. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the Last Updated date and notify administrators through the Service or by email. Changes take effect when posted unless we state otherwise, and continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

24. General

24.1 Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Refund & Cancellation Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Aharsg about the Service.

24.2 Severability and waiver

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest of these Terms remains in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.

24.3 Assignment

You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.

24.4 Force majeure

Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, outages of third-party infrastructure, or acts of government.

24.5 Notices

We may send notices to the email addresses of your Account's administrators or through the Service. You may send notices to info@aharsg.com.
