A muallim's guide to the Hifz log
Log Sabaq, Sabqi and Manzil quickly, and read the juz heatmap.
The Hifz module is built for the halaqah: big touch targets, Arabic surah names and one quick log per recitation. This guide walks through a normal day of logging.
Logging a recitation
- Open Hifz and select the student.
- Choose the type: Sabaq for today's new portion, Sabqi for recent revision, or Manzil for long-term revision.
- Record the surah and the ayah range, or the page range, and the juz.
- Give a star rating for quality, count the mistakes, and add notes.
- Save. The date defaults to today so logging takes seconds.
Log Sabqi and Manzil separately from Sabaq, even when they happen in the same sitting; comparing the three over time shows which portions are slipping.
Reading the heatmap
Each student has a 30-juz grid, shaded by logged progress and quality. Teachers use it to see what is memorized, what is in progress and what has weak revision. It is also a clear picture for parent meetings.
A weekly rhythm
A common pattern is Sabaq in the morning, Sabqi midday and Manzil in rotation through the older juz. Whatever your rhythm, record every sitting: the value of the heatmap is in consistent daily entries, not in end-of-term summaries.
Certificates
Issue a certificate when a student completes a milestone, such as a juz or the whole Qur'an, from the certificates module.
