Attendance codes and daily conversion rules
Decide how session marks become a daily status, and how chronic absence is flagged.
Attendance codes and daily conversion rules decide how session marks become a daily status, and how chronic absence is flagged. Set them once and the nightly calculation follows them.
Attendance codes
Open Attendance and then Codes & rules. Each code has:
- a label and short code, such as P for present.
- a category: present, absent, tardy, excused or suspended.
- an attendance value between 0 and 1, which feeds averages.
- the context it applies to: lessons, Salah, Hifz, boarding or all.
- an active flag and sort order.
Daily conversion rules
A daily rule set decides how a day's marks become one status:
- Bridge period only uses a chosen period as the day's answer.
- Majority of periods follows whichever status dominates.
- Threshold percentage marks the day absent when missed time exceeds your percentage.
You can create separate rule sets per scheduling group, so a Hifz track and a K-12 track can compute their days differently.
Chronic absence
Set the chronic threshold, a percentage over a window of days, and Masira flags students who cross it. The default is 10 percent over 30 days, a common early-warning standard. The reports tab lists flagged students so you can intervene before the pattern hardens.
Overrides
A computed day can be overridden by an administrator with a reason. The override is recorded with who made it and when, keeping the record auditable.
