Income and expenses in the accounts ledger
Record the institution's money in and out by category.
The accounts ledger records your institution's income and expenses by category, alongside student fees. Use it for the utility bill, the book purchase, and everything in between.
Adding an entry
Open Accounts and add a new entry. Choose income or expense, the category, the amount, the date and a description. Totals update on the dashboard as you go.
Working with categories
Keep categories consistent, for example utilities, rent, maintenance, books, supplies, food and transport, so year-end totals are meaningful. The filter narrows the list to a category or a date range.
Gmail expense scanning, once verified
When Google approves Masira's verification, a connected Gmail account can be scanned for bills, invoices and receipts, which become expense drafts for your review. You confirm the vendor, amount, category and date before anything is recorded. Until then the feature is paused, and the app explains its status.
Bookkeeping beyond Masira
Masira records funds, collections and balances clearly for boards and donors, but it is not double-entry bookkeeping. Export to CSV and hand it to your accountant for formal accounts, tax filings and audits.
